The Cost Of Our Cothing

The cost of our clothing

There were around 15 building collapses in the past 2 years because of fast fashion.
What is it? It is people getting clothes every week and not thinking of the impact on the world, environment, working conditions and health those are some of the paragraphs I have.

Here are some facts might change your mind about getting cloths every week

Every piece of clothing you are wearing workers were most probably got paid 72 cents New Zealand dollars per item.
The world's population is estimated to reach  9.7 billion people and most probably 1/4 of them is going to work in garment factories.
To produce a single T-Shirt it takes 2649.79 liters of water.
US and European are the largest consumers of fashion  with the retail market worth  $810430024000.00¢ New Zealand dollars in 2012.

Environment
Water is getting more polluted each day and the people bathe, drink and swim in it. Do you think it is ok? There is a lot of rubbish littered across the ground because of us donating clothes and thinking it is good but only 10% actually gets used, and the rest gets put all around in the poor countries.

Working conditions
Fast fashion is 2nd on the list of things that are polluting our planet just under the oil factories do you think it is ok? 85% of factory workers are women so it is like that men can get jobs easier. A factory in Bangladesh a building collapsed called Rana Plaza because the owner was selfish and didn’t pay to keep it safe. He kept all his workers working and it collapsed while people were still in there Check out the damage:

Health
2500 farmer suicides which is every 30min this is 1: A cotton farmer in The U.S.A died of lung cancer because of the chemicals he was using on his farm. His wife now owns the farm and does not use these chemicals.

Conclusion

Only us, the brands, factory owner and the government have the power to change it. So do you think this is ok? Because I don’t. But for them it is like a dream though do you think they should be dreaming of a better job.
