The Journey Of Light

Photons of light takes 100,000 years 1 month and 8 Min's to get from the Sun to Earth. This is how.

There are 3 mane zones of the Sun: the core, the radiative Zone, and the convective zone. Light must travel though these before it hits the Earth.

In the core of the sun 2 Hydrogen atoms fuse together then make Helium. When this happens energy (photons) is released.
In the radiative Zone Photons move from plasma to plasma particles and it takes 100,000 years.
In the convective zone it takes 1 month for the photons to get to space.
It takes 8 Min's for the sunlight to get from the Sun to Earth.
When the light comes to Earth it gets absorbed into objects or reflected.

Sunlight is a really powerful thing so respect it because it takes a Long time to get from Sun to Earth.

We had to explain how the sunlight gets from the Sun to the Earth

I think most of this was kind of easy. I think the writing the conclusion part was challenging. I think next

We watched this documentary about the Sun.

  1. Great to read this post Rylan. You have been really clear and outlined the main process. What is something that has surprised you about the sun?
